Hydrometric & Bathymetric Surveys

Whether it is for construction, dredging or other related activities, bathymetric and hydrometric surveys help bring clarity to marine projects. Bathymetric survey brings to light the depth of lake or ocean floors, while hydrometric survey records and characterizes hydrological cycle of surface waters.

For several years now, we have been specializing in these two emerging fields. Thanks to our multidisciplinary experts and cutting-edge technology, WSP is able to offer a variety of services and carry out projects of various sizes to clients at home and abroad. Recognized for our rapid mobilization of field teams and capacity to successfully complete mandates, we are ready to tackle projects year-round, even during the frigid winter months.

The hydrometric and bathymetric team places quality at the forefront and strives to provide strict control and quality procedures by employing new technologies such as the newly acquired multi-beam echosounder and high-performance instruments that accurately create and update wide strips of seafloor maps. This state-of-the-art technology is particularly valuable for hydrography, dredging control, research work, and 3D acquisitions of submerged vertical surfaces (sheet pile toe, sheet piles, wharfs, foundations, etc.).

Key Services:

Whether for environmental purposes, for hydroelectric power plants, bridge structures, mining projects, or coastal and marine engineering projects, we are confident that our team will be able to meet your needs and expectations.

We work in the following sectors:

    - Shoreline erosion monitoring;
    - Dredging and underwater construction work monitoring and surveillance;
    - Seabed imagery;
    - Volume calculations;
    - Mapping.

  • TOPOGRAPHY

    - Topographic surveys: implementation, levelling of existing structures;
    - High accuracy GPS data collection and processing;
    - Digital terrain model;
    - Mapping;
    - Quantity calculation.

  • CURRENT MEASUREMENT AND SEDIMENT DYNAMICS

    - High accuracy current speed and direction measurement (stream, river and ocean);
    - Flow measurement;
    - Current measurement (ADCP, CTD, etc.);
    - Characterization of the ice cover;
    - Sediment budget;
    - Sediment coring and sampling.
