GENIVAR Income Fund acquires SEG Engineering of Winnipeg and Positions itself as one of Manitoba's Leaders in Municipal Infrastructure

MONTREAL, July 12 - GENIVAR Income Fund (GENIVAR) is pleased to announce the acquisition of SEG Engineering Inc. (SEG), a Winnipeg firm specializing in municipal infrastructure. GENIVAR's workforce numbers more than 2,000 in Canada and abroad.

"Having SEG among GENIVAR's ranks strengthens our presence in Manitoba and positions our firm as a key player in municipal infrastructure, which will remain very active in the years to come," said Pierre Shoiry, President and CEO of GENIVAR. "SEG offers us strong complementarity in terms of its clientele, which includes the City of Winnipeg, numerous land developers and First Nation Communities. GENIVAR currently serves a number of rural municipalities, villages, towns and cities in Manitoba," added Mr. Shoiry.

Presided over by Ian McKinnon, P. Eng., SEG was founded in 1979 and has currently 20 employees. It offers municipal engineering services, including planning, implementation and renewal of municipal infrastructure, water and wastewater treatment, and water distribution. Its long-term clientele includes the City of Winnipeg and some of Manitoba's largest land developers, including Qualico Developments and Novamet Development Corporation. SEG also works with some 40 First Nations communities in Manitoba and Ontario.

"We are very pleased to welcome SEG to the GENIVAR family. This acquisition strengthens our position as one of the major multidisciplinary consulting engineering firms in Manitoba," said Bill Brant, Vice-President for Manitoba at GENIVAR. "SEG enjoys an excellent reputation in the community and with this acquisition, our Winnipeg office team will grow to 70. We intend to continue to expand our team in all our markets, including in municipal engineering, transportation, environment, building, industrial and power," he added.

"We are very pleased to be joining GENIVAR, one of Canada's most dynamic consulting engineering firms," said Ian McKinnon, P. Eng., President of SEG. "GENIVAR's decentralized business model, which favours strong ties to our communities and the local development of skills while providing access to the firm's vast, Canada-wide network is very appealing and will enable us to continue to grow," stated Mr. McKinnon.
