Providing Global Leadership on The World’s Largest Sustainable City

On May 13, WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff had the pleasure of hosting a group of students from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, USA who were studying global business and sustainability operations.

The visit marked the end of a semester-long research effort by 25 students who made the trip. We provided an insight on how global companies do business in Korea, and provided a guided tour of the Songdo City, which was developed in a global collaboration with sustainability as a founding principle.

WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff provided  project management support, LEED consultancy, energy modelling and construction supervision activities in the Songdo International Business District, including landmark projects such as the 305-meter Northeast Asia Trade Tower and the 41-hectare Songdo Central Park.

In addition to overseeing these massive construction projects, WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff has also provided construction management and LEED certification management to dozens of buildings, including residential and commercial high-rises, schools and retail centers, through the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating systems, including the first LEED for Neighborhood Development project in Korea.

Songdo City has become a popular destination for students and professionals from around the world eager to learn from more from the developers about how to manage and deliver a project of this magnitude and importance.
