Hong Kong Sports Institute New Facilities Opening

On 20th June 2013, Hong Kong Sports Institute celebrated the opening of its four new facilities at a ceremony officiated by the Chief Secretary for Administration of HKSAR Government, Ms. Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, Carrie and the HKSI Chairman, Mr. Carlson Tong.

The formally opened new facilities are the Rowing Boathouse and the Multi-purpose Sports Hall, which houses the Squash Courts, Tenpin Bowling Centre and Wushu Hall. Its completion is an important milestone of the overall redevelopment of Hong Kong Sports Institute, a project with investment over HK$1800 million.

Our Mr. Michael Tang, Director and Mr. KY Lau, Principal Engineer of WSP Hong Kong were also invited to attend the opening ceremony as representatives of the engineering consultant team of the project.

Since 2007, WSP has been providing full building services engineering consultancy services for the whole project. Besides the above mentioned four elite sports facilities and the swimming pool opened last year, the project also includes a 9-level multi-purpose building under construction and is aimed to be completed by end of 2014.
