WSP BIM valued by Hong Kong Housing Authority

On November 14, WSP received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HKHA), for our proactive use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the design of Hung Shui Kiu Phase 2, a public rental housing development. Mr. Wing So, Director of Structural in our Hong Kong office, accepted the accolade on behalf of the company.

The HKHA is a statutory body that develops and implements Hong Kong’s public housing programme to help low-income families gain access to affordable housing and create harmonious living environments for tenants. More than two million people currently reside in public rental housing.

WSP has been providing professional services on the structural and geotechnical design for this 68,800 sq. m. project since 2010. A Revit Structure model was built for all the design information, from site boundaries, topographic surveys, and geological profiles to building structures and foundations. Design drawings including ground investigation plans, preliminary bored pile plans and preliminary framing plans were issued from the model.

WSP was also the BIM consultant for the entire site area of ung Shui Kiu Phase 2, which comprises nine domestic blocks, a commercial centre, car parking and public transport interchange facilities, and has a total gross floor area (GFA) of approximately 283,000 sq. m.
