Simon’s award for the ‘Young BIMer of the Year 2014’ was presented at the CIC BIM Excellence Awards ceremony, held at the renowned Sky100 in Hong Kong on 11 March 2015. The award is testament to Simon’s commitment to the implementation of BIM processes, its application for provide multidisciplinary solutions, and his active promotion of BIM in the engineering and construction sector.

When asked about his achievement, he explained that “the most important thing to realize is how much BIM is developing and evolving.” As an example, he explained that traditional BIM is applied in the design and construction stages of a project. He took it a step further by developing a BIM process for a completed building project. This helped develop improvements and efficiencies that delivered greater value for clients on their property upgrades or alterations. Ultimately, this enhanced the ability for seamless transition to the facility’s management and operation.

Simon joined the WSP team in June 2014, and now heads a team of 40 BIM specialists located in our Hong Kong and mainland China offices. He was instrumental in developing the sophisticated in-house system and BIM standards that are now used on numerous BIM projects across Hong Kong and Mainland China. As one of Hong Kong’s leading BIM professionals, Simon will undoubtedly continue to lead his team to greater success in advancing the application of BIM in the industry.
