Working at WSP is fast-paced and high energy.

There is always something new to learn and decisions to make. We are like family with different personalities, passions and strengths. As a leader it’s my privilege to recognize, respect and combine these qualities so that we continue to grow as a team and enjoy the rewards of a job well done.

I love that my role at WSP is enabling growth

Being the operations manager as well as the laboratory manager is truly a multi-faceted role. I have always had amazing support from management to accomplish what I need to get done, and because of that our testing services continue to expand across Ontario. Being able to keep current and meet the technical challenges of my job is incredibly satisfying but having wonderful staff and a great team working with me is what makes it enjoyable.

I try to live by that quote. I’ve always believed it is important to never settle, never stop changing and keep striving for better. Of course when I can’t remember the beautiful words of Winston Churchill, ‘go big or go home’ will always work in a pinch.

I always try to be a leader rather than a manager

The wellbeing of my team is very important to me and prioritizing can sometimes be difficult, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I try to stay heavily involved with the development of new test methods and current technology; admittedly it can be challenging to fit it all into regular work hours. The biggest challenges often have the best rewards and my work is very rewarding.

Out of WSP’s five corporate values, ‘Caring’ is the one I identify with the most.

I’d like to think I’m a good blend of all of them but caring seems to stand out the most for me. Client and staff relations are one of the important building blocks for our business. Clients, both external and internal, want to know that the person on the other end of the line cares as much about the decisions that are being made as they do. I’m very focused on the wellbeing and safety of our team. It’s always a good feeling to know that someone’s got your back and they know I’m there when they need me. Caring and respect are a functional part of providing a good working environment no matter your station - we are a better company because of it.
