Sault Ste. Marie, nicknamed “The Soo,” sits on St. Mary’s River in Northern Ontario.  Across the river to the south is Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. The two cities were once one, however after the War of 1812 established the border between the United States and Canada, they became separated. Home to Station Mall (one of the largest shopping malls in Northern Ontario), Sault Ste. Marie has a deep rooted history in fur trading and is located where the crossroads of a 3,000 mile fur trade route once stood.
