Cayman Islands Airport Development Plan

Regional Airport System Master Plan developed for three Cayman Islands Airports.

Client: Cayman Islands Government

Our client’s challenge

A sound aviation strategy was fundamental to supporting the tourism industry’s continued growth and economic development in the region. Our client required support in the following areas:

  • Aviation forecasting
  • Airport master planning
  • Environmental baseline scoping
  • Costing of master plan investments
  • Developing consolidated financial revenues & investment model

Our approach

In collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), WSP provided aviation services at the Owen Roberts International Airport, Cayman Brac International Airport and Little Cayman Airport, all operated by the Cayman Islands Airport Authority. WSP worked in close partnership with PwC to create financial models and business cases to support the optimal use and operation of airport infrastructure as a key strategic asset in the region. WSP led the master planning of the airports while consulting on the environmental impact and construction cost.

WSP delivered a comprehensive 20-year Regional Airport System Master Plan which provides comprehensive short and long term planning strategies to meet the islands’ growing aviation needs.
