David Braley and Nancy Gordon Rock Garden - Royal Botanical Gardens

WSP worked in partnership with CS&P Architects to design a new visitor centre at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Hamilton, Ontario.

The timber-inspired project included a number of administration spaces, a restaurant and an event space located under the wood ‘leaf-shaped’ roof, which is the focal point of the building.

  • The wood roof curves to create the appearance of a leaf blowing in the wind, responding to the natural surroundings, and includes floor to ceiling glass for unobstructed views of the garden.
  • Other features of the project include several landsc
  • ape features, bridges, retaining walls for the major pathway redevelopment and to the rock garden itself.
