Heartland Transmission Line

 

WSP used the latest generation global navigation satellite system, bathymetric and conventional survey technologies and methodologies to meet stringent accuracy requirements and schedule demands for the Heartland Transmission Project, that will connect the Heartland region (northeast of Fort Saskatchewan) to existing transmission facilities in Edmonton. WSP provided:

  • Professional geomatics services to support the construction of a new 18 kilometer, 240 kilovolt transmission line and a 65 kilometer, 500 kilovolt transmission line.
  • Staking right-of-way boundaries and buried facility crossings.
  • A pre-engineering topographic survey for a new substation, and identified proposed new tower centres for geotechnical evaluation.
  • Siting and layout of steel lattice tower structures for screw pile foundations.
  • Final posting of the legal monuments for the new right-of-way.
