King William & Main Street West Streetscape Design

Project provided civic beautification, betterment of pedestrian comfort, and environmental improvements to urban areas.

  • WSP provided conceptual designs, public consultation, and construction documents for streetscape improvements.
  • Public consultation sessions articulated locations of enhancement elements to achieve maximum visual impact and provide a high-quality user experience.
  • WSP formulated a ‘cottage garden’ look, integrating the rustic Muskoka landform into the urban landscape.
  • Asphalt shoulders were replaced with a colourful mix of shrub and perennial plantings, while trees were strategically placed to offer shade for seating areas and a barrier between pedestrians and traffic.
  • Streetscape design included a large seating node featuring two vertical granite stones, which were hand selected from a local quarry for their unique sculptural quality.
