Montreal’s Urban Revitalization Harbour Front Project, Quebec

WSP was selected for Montreal’s ambitious “Bassins du Nouveau Havre”, a major harbour front project from the Canada Lands Company (CLC).

This residential mixed-use project (condominiums and social housing) is aligned with the Future Cities philosophy, in that it includes several elements of sustainable development, both social and environmental.

Services provided by WSP

  • Environmental characterization of the host site
  • Characterization of the existing building (former postal sorting site) and assistance in the demolition of the latter
  • Applying concepts of sustainable urban development to the conception phase (recycling rainwater, reusing 150 year-old docks, etc.)
  • Securing environmental permits and follow-up with authorities

Sustainable Development Benefits

With regards to sustainable development benefits, it is worth mentioning the recovery of more than 90% of materials during the existing facilities demolition phase, as well as the water savings that will be made by the facilities at completion.
