Northdale Land Use and Community Improvement Plan Study

Re-imagining a student neighbourhood as a sustainable, re-urbanized, and integrated place to live.

WSP, as part of a multidisciplinary project team, undertook an integrated community planning, urban design, and community revitalization study for the Northdale neighbourhood, located near the City of Waterloo’s universities.

  • WSP developed a comprehensive vision and planning framework to revitalize the largely student neighbourhood into a re-urbanized, sustainable, and mixed use community through a community improvement plan, and established built form, urban design guidelines, and a transportation and open space framework.
  • WSP also completed an extensive community consultation process which included visioning workshops, design charrettes, and open houses with the community and the Northdale Special Project Committee.
