Spirit Square – James Stuart Park

With mountains framing the view, this premier waterfront park in downtown Kelowna is a year-round attraction for residents and visitors alike.

  • WSP completed the conceptual design, including the facilitation of public open houses and presentations to city council.
  • Primary design elements include the civic plaza adjacent to city hall, which serves as a skating rink in the winter; a promontory lookout complete with a public art sculpture; a waterfront promenade; and a ceremonial streetscape treatment.
  • The removal of an existing retaining wall facilitated the reclamation of the naturalized foreshore, helping to improve water quality in the slow-moving section of the lake.
