Victoria Park Master Plan and Implementation Centre

Enhanced the park’s wooded naturalized features, lawn areas, and historical view sheds.

  • WSP’s plan created formal entrances, a picnic area, scenic trails with interpretive signage to link destination lookouts, and restored parking areas.
  • Strategies for environmental and erosion protection included coordination with the Grand River Conservation Authority.
  • WSP conducted extensive stakeholder consultation with heritage and tourism representatives, a termite specialist, a business improvement area organization, a recreation committee, and township staff.
  • An arborist’s assessment ensured the protection of root structures during construction, selection of appropriate new tree species, and pruning strategies to prolong the life span of declining specimens.
  • WSP was subsequently engaged to redevelop the core park area and signage design for both park and adjacent trail features.
  • Park design and furnishings paid particular attention to the Victorian era and local characteristic stone architecture, including a custom metal archway and pillars constructed of reclaimed locally quarried stone.
