    State-of-the-Art Health and Safety

WSP earned an Innovation Prize as part of CNESST’s Grand Workplace Health and Safety Award program in 2016, for the collaborative design of a mobile platform installed at SAAQ (Societe de l’assurance automobile Quebec) road checkpoints.  The platform helps reduce the risk to inspectors who must scrutinize heavy vehicles, often in inspection pits without guardrails.

The idea for the prototype platform, as a mobile lockable cart with guardrails, has never before seen in the sector and was developed by WSP’s Patrice Towner, supported by teams from the Industrial and Buildings departments.  Several carts have since been installed at SAAQ checkpoints, greatly enhancing the safety and security of vehicle inspectors.
