The Palm Jumeirah is the world's largest manmade island and has increased Dubai’s shoreline by 120 kilometers, creating numerous residential, leisure and entertainment areas. The Palm’s fronds contain more than 1,730 villas, each with a private beach. The Palm is protected by The Crescent, an 11 kilometer breakwater. Currently home of the prestigious Atlantis Development—with a 1600 room, five-star hotel complex, shopping malls and water park and aquarium theme park—The Crescent will eventually house 32 five-star hotels, plus offshore facilities, anticipated to include the largest manmade diving park ever built.

The Bvlgari Resort Hotel and Luxury Marina Village will be an exclusive island development constructed on reclaimed land off the Jumeirah neighbourhood coastline. The island is sculpted in the shape of a titanic seahorse and will be joined to the mainland by a single carriageway bridge.

Nareel Island Development was planned as a waterfront community in Abu Dhabi, UAE comprising a luxury 5-star hotel resort, 73 luxury residential villas, apartments and leisure amenities. Once complete, the island was planned to accommodate an estimated peak population of 3,000 people. The proposed site is located on two linked islands (North and South islands) with an approximate total area of 530,000 m².
