Dubai Metro Purple Line

The project is a 49 km long airport express service between the existing Dubai International and the new Jebel Ali International airports, via the new development areas. In addition to the two terminal stations, four stations with in-town check-in facilities and three normal passenger stations without check-in facilities were planned.

Bullet Client: Roads & Transport Authority

WSP completed the Purple Line patronage forecasting through an upgrade to the land use forecasts and transport network assumptions in the client’s Dubai VISUM model. The forecasting provided key inputs into other tasks we were performing to deliver the Purple Line feasibility study, such as station design planning, alignment concept testing and preliminary environmental assessment. Concept and preliminary design of tunnels and underground structures for the four-track subway were completed in 2008.
