The WELL Building Standard™ (WELL) is a performance-based system for measuring, certifying and monitoring features of the built environment that impact human health and well-being, through air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort and mind.

WELL is grounded in a body of medical research that explores the connection between the buildings where we spend more than 90 percent of our time and the health and wellness impacts on us as occupants.

WELL focuses on how the physical built environment supports human health, productivity, well-being and comfort, marrying best practices in design and construction with evidence-based health and wellness interventions. Certification allows building owners and employers to know that their space is promoting health and well-being as it was designed and intended.

The WELL Building Standard v1 is optimised for commercial and institutional buildings and can be applied to three project typologies:

  • New and existing buildings
  • New and existing interiors
  • Core and shell compliance

WELL Certification and LEED certification go hand in hand. While LEED addresses health and wellness, WELL delves further into the topic areas and provides a closer examination of the occupant experience.

WELL is the culmination of seven years of rigorous research in collaboration with leading physicians, scientists and industry professionals. Pioneered by Delos, WELL is administered by the International WELL Building Institute™ (IWBI) and third-party certified through IWBI’s collaboration with Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI)—the certification body that administers the LEED Green Building Rating System.

Bartosz Marcol, our Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Consultant, became WELL AP as one of the first in Poland. So far, there are no WELL certified buildings in Poland. As one of the first in Poland, we now offer this innovative type of certification.
