Our Sustainability Policy guides all WSP Group companies in our efforts to embed sustainability into the technical expertise, advice and solutions we provide to clients.

 

This policy helps us:

  • To continue to develop our expertise and services in the field of economic, social and environmental sustainability to open up new markets and commercial opportunities.
  • To actively manage the environmental and social impacts of our own operations to the benefit of all our stakeholders.
  • To be an active and responsible participant in the communities in which we operate

Our Goals

We will meet the expectations of our sector, both by providing knowledge that contributes to an ecologically, economically and socially sustainable future and by supporting the development of sustainable regions, cities, buildings, infrastructure, transport and industrial processes.  We consider this to be essential to our success in growing our business and creating lasting value that meets the future challenges of all our stakeholders.  Our Sustainability Policy guides all WSP Group companies in our efforts to:

  • Actively manage the environmental and social impacts of our own operations to the benefit of all our stakeholders

Our Commitments

We will continuously:

  • Develop new and improve existing skills to deliver environmental, social and commercially focused services that create value for customers.
  • Deliver our mission to be recognised for our own behaviours and to meet or exceed our customers’ expectations.
  • Assess the risks and opportunities of our project work from a sustainability perspective and measure what benefits or added value we bring through our advice.
  • Be mindful of our global strategy for sustainable development and support the internal structures so that they contribute to a performance improvement that is adapted to local markets and cultures.
  • Recruit people with expertise in the field of sustainability and provide training for our employees in sustainability issues.
  • Have the systems and processes in place to ensure that we comply with all relevant laws and regulations governing business, society, the environment and health and safety.
  • Review the internal management system that facilitates the efficient use of resources.  We measure and report on our carbon footprint and must develop realistic targets for improvement.  We will manage the environmental impact of our operations.
  • Annually publish our results against Key Performance Indicators for the goals that have greatest impact on sustainability.
  • Support WSP’s business principles and ethics policy.  We will apply this to all our projects and in our internal working environment and make the same requirements of our suppliers.  Every employee must understand and abide by this policy.
  • Respect the social and cultural diversity of our employees and strive to attract and retain the best talent in the market.  This includes providing a safe and healthy work place.
  • Set standards for our key suppliers to improve the sustainability of the goods and services that we purchase.
  • According to the culture and needs of each country, our aim is to create volunteering opportunities and support charities.
