Triple senior hire sparks significant maritime and logistics targeted growth by WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff

4 July – WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff is aiming to rapidly expand its global maritime and logistics offering with the arrival of three senior hires in the UK.

Simon Harries, Roy Van Eijsden and Andy Penfold all arrive from Royal HaskoningDHV, and will play a crucial role in expanding the business’ consultancy, engineering design and project advisory team, with ambitious global growth targets in the maritime sector.

Director Simon Harries will lead the expanded business. Simon has over 35 years’ experience in the planning, design, project management and supervision of large civil and structural engineering maritime projects. In this time he has led acquisitions in the UK and Turkey and opened up new businesses in Vietnam, Indonesia, Australia, Brazil, Oman, and Abu Dhabi, among others.

Simon said: “We have joined WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff for its unrivalled reputation for international projects and profile. There is an ambitious global strategy for the growing maritime sector and a strong track record for technical expertise across the UK, Europe, South Africa, North America, and beyond. In the coming months I’ll be looking at how we can best utilise our diverse skills and share knowledge to the benefit of our people and clients.”

London-based director Roy Van Eijsden has over fifteen years’ experience in corporate risk consultancy expertise, focusing on international economic and legislative developments and market trends for clients. Roy has worked on a number of large scale infrastructure projects and mergers and acquisitions across six continents with multinational oil & gas and chemical companies, port & shipping lines, financial, legal and private equity firms.

Director Andy Penfold is a shipping economist with extensive experience in market and financing studies for the port and shipping industries. He founded Ocean Shipping Consultants – a leading company providing shipping consultancy to global clients in 1986, which he sold in 2011. At WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff he will be responsible for commercial market studies in the shipping and port markets at a global level.

Ian Liddell, UK head of development, said: “This is an exciting move that helps us to fulfil our strategy of providing a market-leading offer for clients that want world class work on all consultancy services. Simon, Roy and Andy combine industry leading experience with the client advisory knowhow that can take our ports and maritime offering to the next level. Working together with our existing maritime, transportation, and infrastructure experts in the UK and internationally will provide more opportunities for our people and increase our project offering.”
