WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff certified to collaborative working standard

20 January - WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, the professional services consultancy, has achieved certification to the BS 11000:2010 Collaborative Business Relationships standard, developed by BSI (British Standards Institution).

The standard will apply for the entire UK business. Projects on which the consultancy was assessed included Northampton Highways (a joint venture with Kier and Northamptonshire County Council), a cycling scheme as part of a Highways England framework, and London Bridge Station Redevelopment (a joint venture with Arcadis).

The BS 11000 standard is valuable to business as it helps to eliminate poor communication, defines roles and responsibilities, and supports decision-making. Implementing the standard involves embedding these correct behaviours and culture to support collaborative working. WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff was recommended for certification following a nine month review without any non-conformances.

Mike Rogerson, UK commercial and operations director commented: “Collaboration is nothing new, and no business can be successful without it. It is something we work hard at across the organisation, and I am delighted that we were certified without the need for any external support, which is testament to our professionalism and commitment to our working relationships.”

“Collaboration drives performance improvements, and we will use this achievement as motivation to raise our standards even further for clients and co-workers alike.”

Carla Whyte, Performance Management Specialist at BSI said: “By gaining certification to BS 11000, WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff has shown its commitment to building a collaborative culture within the organization, ensuring their partnerships add value to the business and that their strategic objectives are supported. They should be proud of this achievement.”
