Mark Naysmith, WSP UK Chief Executive Officer said: “Frazer’s track record in driving growth along with his strong background in strategic planning and project delivery is second to none across very relevant water, energy and process engineering sectors. I have great confidence in his ability to lead the team and strengthen and grow our Energy and Industry business in the UK, which includes our Water regulated division.  We are thrilled to have him on board as we launch our new WSP global brand.”

Frazer Mackay, WSP UK MD for Energy and Industry said: “I’m delighted to be joining the team at WSP and I’m eagerly looking forward to working with my new customers, colleagues and stakeholders to both grow the Energy and Industry business and to help deliver WSP’s broader strategic objectives. I believe that two pillars to business success are customer focus and business planning, and that by concentrating on these areas we can achieve our ambitions going forward.”

WSP, previously known as WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, is also delighted to welcome the following recruits to its 7,000 people strong business as it recently unveiled its new brand:

Karen Dingley rejoins WSP as Head of Mining and Water Services from Golder Associates. With more than 14 years’ experience in international mining and water engineering, Karen previously worked at WSP in Australia from 2004 to 2005. One of her biggest achievements was to successfully and safely lead a team of 150 expats and locals working on mining projects in West Africa during the midst of the Ebola crisis.

A Chartered Civil Engineer, she has been recognised by her peers for her achievements in the industry and selected as one of the 2013-2014 Top 100 Inspirational Women in Mining.

Karen said: “I have been so impressed with the commitment to success and strategic growth within WSP, and I wanted to be a part of that. I am very excited by the opportunity to work as part of a collaborative global team to further develop and strengthen our international mining and water business.”

Darren Powell is appointed Senior Technical Director in the Highways team. As part of his new role, Darren will strengthen the consultancy’s capability across strategic and local government highways in Yorkshire and the North East.

With 26 years’ experience in the industry, Darren joins from Sweco where as Technical Director and more recently as Operations Director, he was responsible for teams delivering work for Highways England across their Regional Investment Programme and their Smart Motorways initiative. Key achievements include leading the consultancy teams supporting the delivery of the A1 Dishforth to Leeming ECI Improvement Scheme that links the A1 motorway sections with North Yorkshire.

Darren said: “WSP and Mouchel’s combined offering in the transportation market is second to none thanks to their expertise on both highways and rail projects. Their ability to work within the strategic and local roads sectors offer clients the benefits of their experience and learning, whilst in tandem WSP and Mouchel offer great opportunities for the development of new and existing employees. I’m excited by the opportunity”.

Kirsteen Hughes joins the public private partnerships and capital investment services team as Associate Director. With more than 14 years’ experience in the sector, she joins from MAMG where she was a general manager on the Bradford Building Schools for the future, and prior to this held a similar position for the Greater Manchester Police Stations at John Laing.

One of her key achievements include the successful role out of a pilot scheme implemented by the Treasury as part of a “how a good PFI looks” initiative on the Great Manchester Police project between 2014 and 2015 where she secured a 190k per annum saving for the client.

Kirsteen said: “Having been part of the PFI world for over 14 years, I have always been aware of WSP as they have been renowned for their global expertise in the technical advisory field for many years and more recently branching out into the special purpose vehicle (SPV) management market. Their reputation speaks for itself so when I was given the opportunity to work as part of a dynamic and successful organisation, it was an easy decision. I hope to use my past experiences in this area to engage with current and future clients and secure and deliver more SPV management services. I look forward to the successes ahead.
