Renewable Energy

WSP USA, formerly WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, provides comprehensive technical support to the renewable energy industry. Our experts support clients in shaping alternatives to generating electricity from fossil fuels, and developing systems that are as efficient and cost-effective as possible. We are experienced in a range of technologies including solar, wind and biomass, and we understand the complex arrangements involved in the financing and development of renewable energy generation and storage projects.

We assist solar energy developers in meeting the challenges they face in planning and executing solar projects, from accurately assessing energy yield, to integrating state-of-the-art product offerings, to developing viable strategies for energy storage. We are involved in all aspects of solar photovoltaic (PV) power plants, providing owner’s engineer and engineer of record services. We support clients at all stages of project development, from initial feasibility studies through design, construction and commissioning. Our services include specification development, market research, due diligence, design review, energy yield assessment, engineering design, RFP preparation and site management. Our work on utility-scale arrays translates seamlessly into commercial and industrial projects and building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), both on and off the grid.

Our wind energy specialists objectively assess potential investments, and provide a full range of technical and consulting services in planning and executing projects. Our services include identification of prospective wind farm sites, resource assessment and micrositing of wind power stations in high-wind-speed environments; wind power assessment studies and grid impact studies; electrical interconnection studies; detailed design of complete balance of plant systems; and environmental and permitting support. By using our U.S.-based expertise and collaborating with our experienced European offshore wind team, we are able to support clients in both the onshore and offshore wind energy sectors.

We also offer expertise in renewable thermal technologies—including biomass, geothermal and concentrating solar power—and are ready to support clients in meeting the challenges involved in developing and operating utility-scale systems, from siting to energy storage to ensuring access to efficient transmission networks.
