The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is the authoritative agency within the federal government responsible for a wide variety of emergency preparedness and planning, mitigation and response and recovery activities.  When a significant event occurs that meets the criteria for the President of the United States to issue a disaster declaration, FEMA takes the lead in marshalling the necessary resources to address each incident.

Since 1995, WSP has supported FEMA as a nationwide housing inspection services contractor by inspecting homes damaged as a result of a presidentially declared emergency or natural disaster.  We are tasked to deploy qualified inspectors to an incident site after notification by FEMA to assess damages to homes and personal property throughout the U.S., its territories and protectorates.

To achieve the greatest efficiency and security, we maintain a cadre of experienced inspectors, as well as field incident managers, quality assurance personnel, software development and computer operations staff.  Inspections are documented using tablets containing a software program that efficiently and thoroughly describes the nature and extent of the damage.  The data collected by these inspections is used by FEMA to determine the type and amount of assistance to be provided to applicants.  The WSP team is prepared to respond to incidents immediately at FEMA’s direction and capable of completing inspections immediately after assignment from FEMA.
