Lucas Oil Stadium

Home to the National Football League (NFL) team, Indianapolis Colts, this new nine-story, state-of-the-art stadium features a fully-retractable roof and offers seating for up to 63,000 spectators.

Seating can be expanded to accommodate 75,000 people for larger events like the Super Bowl, which it is scheduled to host in 2012. The stadium also features 150 specialty/luxury box suites. Sitting on a 37.7-acre site, the stadium covers over 1.8M sf and replaces the old RCA Dome. 

The stadium also hosts the annual National College Athletic Association's (NCAA) Final Four basketball tournaments for men's and women's basketball.  It can also be configured for conventions, exhibitions, fairs and concerts, offering over 185,000 square feet. 

Initial work included unit concept engineering for the project feasibility study used to secure legislative approval. WSP USA extended its work on the project, providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection, and sports lighting design services. Deliverables consisted of extensive CFD modelling of the stadium seating bowl air distribution were performed to optimized air diffuser selection and aiming to provide good temperature conditions and reasonable air velocities at the seats.
