Price Center for Genetic and Translational Medicine

The Michael F. Price Center for Genetic and Translational Medicine/Harold and Muriel Block Research Pavilion is home to medical students engaging in research at the frontier of biomedical science.

The advanced research conducted at the facility will have the potential to impact every area of medicine from cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes, to genetic diseases and disorders.

The five-story, 200,000 sf research facility is situated on the existing Van Etten site, housing 40 state-of-the-art research laboratories, 10 specialized scientific facilities and a 100-seat auditorium. An animal holding facility, lab support spaces, conference centers and private offices are also available to researchers and staff. The fifth floor contains a BSL-3 facility which required isolation to prevent the spread of contaminants from the highly sensitive space. The BSL-3 space contains wet labs, analytical facilities and a 25,000 sf basement vivarium.

The project’s design incorporated energy efficiency measures and achieved the maximum NYSERDA incentives. The Price Center was also awarded the Best National Healthcare Project of 2008 by Engineering News-Record.
