Located in Lower Manhattan's Battery Park City, the LEED Platinum Verdesian is an icon of sustainability.

The 300,000 sf building became the first residential (rental) facility in the country to receive a LEED Platinum rating. The building contains 253 units ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments.

The 26-story building contains many sustainable features including:

  • Quiet, year-round central air-filtration which removes 85% of particulates, providing each apartment with fresh, filtered air that is heated and humidified during cold weather, and dehumidified during warm weather

  • Continuous Internal IAQ monitoring to ensure maximum environmental quality

  • 24/7 exhaust in every kitchen and bathroom

  • MERV 12 filters endorsed by the American Lung Association used in all resident High-performance exterior wall system includes a vapor and air barrier to minimize random air-infiltration

  • Well-insulated residences that stay cooler in summer, warmer in winter

  • 40% more energy efficient design than code requires

  • Natural gas-fired microturbine and cooling system contribute to 48% lower peak electric demand, while recapturing enough bi-product heat energy to generate 100% of the building’s domestic hot water needs

  • Digital, programmable thermostats in every residence allow year-round comfort and enable residents to save on utility bills

  • Each residence promotes energy savings through ENERGY STAR appliances, high-efficiency lighting fixtures, master residence light switches, highly insulated windows and Low-E glass

  • Centrally filtered water system with secondary filtration at refrigerator dispensers
