University of Connecticut STEM Residence Hall

WSP USA is providing MEP/FP engineering and design services for a new 727-bed, 210,000 sf, nine-story undergraduate science, technology, engineering materials, mathematics (STEM) residence hall and learning community.

Bullet Seeking LEED Silver
Bullet BIM Analysis

This new building will add 210,000 sf of dormitory and community space to UCONN and marks a significant step in the development of the campus. This project is the beginning of a UCONN initiative to support additional education incentives for STEM programs.

Using the latest Revit software, the team integrated BIM technology at the conceptual design phase so they could view and understand potential coordination problems early in the design process. Therefore, important design decisions could be made prior to schematic design and design development.

In addition, BIM analysis will allow the team to evaluate the building envelope and mass to achieve the LEED Silver Goals.
