WSP and A-Zone Environmental Services agree to a Joint Venture under the U.S. SBA Mentor-Protégé Program

WSP Environment & Energy LLC and A-Zone Environmental Services LLC have confirmed a joint venture under the U.S. Small Business Administration's Mentor-Protégé Program. The JV, to be called A-Zone WSP Environmental, will provide private businesses and federal agencies with access to expert environmental services with a particular focus on site investigation, geotechnical and ground engineering for site development, land remediation, climate change, and sustainability services.

As a small and minority, woman-owned joint venture, we are well positioned to assist private companies, as well as federal agencies, to achieve their diversity procurement goals and requirements.

The SBA's Mentor-Protégé program is designed to help Certified 8(a) firms increase their capacity to obtain federal contracts. As the approved Mentor, WSP will provide various forms of assistance to A-Zone in exchange for the opportunity to participate in teaming arrangements on bids and contracts that the Mentor would not otherwise be eligible for.

"This is an exciting business opportunity for both parties" said WSP's Managing Director, Jan Chizzonite, who has been instrumental in working with A-Zone to bring this JV to fruition.

"WSP has enjoyed a collaborative business relationship with A-Zone for several years. We are delighted to now formalize this through a joint venture which will enhance still further the breadth and quality of the services that we offer in support of public and private projects, in addition to enabling WSP to mentor and support the development of A-Zone's business and staff as part of this excellent program."

Under the Mentor-Protégé Program, WSP will provide A-Zone with assistance in many areas of business development, as well as technical expertise and project management.

Speaking about the joint venture, president and CEO of A-Zone, Adrienne Morgan said: "We are delighted to have entered into this joint venture with WSP that is approved by the SBA. WSP is a leading global consultancy practice specializing in environmental, energy, sustainability, health and safety issues. Coupled with our own expertise in environmental field services, we are excited to develop and expand our line of services that we can offer to our clients."
