WSP USA Appoints Eric Hechler, Esq. as Director of Risk

NEW YORK CITY – WSP USA has appointed Eric Hechler, Esq., an attorney who specializes in the architecture, engineering and construction industry, as director of risk, announces David Cooper, PE, LEED AP BD+C, president and CEO of WSP USA.

 

Mr. Hechler, 43, has nearly 20 years of experience in contract review, development and documentation of risk mitigation strategies, and managing insurance, including litigation.  Previously, he was of counsel at the law firm L’Abbate, Balkan, Colavita & Contini, L.L.P in Garden City, N.Y.   In addition to his legal background, Mr. Hechler worked for several years in the construction industry as a mechanic and project manager with an electrical contracting firm.

In his new role, Mr. Hechler will provide corporate legal support, coordinate risk mitigation strategies, manage insurance claims and processes, and serve as in-house litigation counsel.

“Eric is exceptionally well suited to this role, as his expertise encompasses not only the legal arena, but also the architectural, engineering and construction arena,” notes Mr. Cooper.  “He represented many architects, engineers and design professionals in his previous position, and he has the hands-on experience of working within the construction industry.”

A resident of East Northport, N.Y., Mr. Hechler holds a J.D. from Touro College in Huntington, N.Y., and a B.A. in psychology from SUNY Purchase.  He is a member of the New York, New Jersey and Maryland bars.
