Leading the future in San Francisco

We’ve long prided ourselves on many things: our history of local expertise and global capabilities; our dedication to client care and excellent service; our unwavering commitment to providing the best engineering with a focus on innovation and creativity. Our leaders are committed to instilling this ethos in all of our staff.

In San Francisco,  we have been building a reputation around these qualities since 1982. Through our work in the past on such projects as Letterman Digital Arts Center, PG&E Headquarters, and the Millennium Tower; and today on the Transbay Transit Center, Salesforce Tower, SFJAZZ, 50 United Nations Plaza, and many others, we are proud of the role we play in building the San Francisco landscape.

San Francisco Leadership

Our dedicated and motivated leadership team – Steve, Reg, Caroline, Saied, Todd, Michael and Alan – offer a diverse portfolio of work and expertise throughout the U.S. and internationally. Many of them have well over 20 years with WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff and in the Bay Area. They are united by their shared history and commitment to our core values.

Steve is a structural engineer who has been working in San Francisco since 2006. He is the U.S. Director of Buildings at WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, with a portfolio of work that has taken him all over the world. The star of the PBS series Time Scanners, Steve is passionate about sharing the history of engineering with today’s professionals and the general public. Earlier this year, he gave a lecture at Yale on why the modern age is the best time to be an engineer.

With over 31 years at WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, Reg is the mechanical engineer behind UC San Francisco Sandler Neurosciences Center, U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, the San Francisco Main Public Library, and countless others. He is a key figure in much of our international work as well, including Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Reg led the mechanical design of the project, which had the largest radiant floor in the world at the time it opened.

Caroline is a key mentor and leader in our Electrical department, always encouraging her teams to exceed expectations. This drive and dedication has resulted in one of her projects, 181 Fremont, receiving a $250K grant for water reduction from the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission. She was a key member of the electrical design team for the California Independent Systems Operator in Folsom, CA, which achieved LEED® Platinum certification.

Saied has provided engineering and leadership on notable sustainable projects, dating back to his work on Foundry Square in 2003, which featured the first raised floor in San Francisco; and the more recent La Jolla Commons II, the largest net-zero energy office building in the country. He also heads the Buildings group’s national client care program, ensuring the same standards for excellence and service are being met across the company.

A key member of the firm’s national Science + Technology leadership, Todd has also been actively building the office’s portfolio of Hawaii projects. His successful work on projects like the University of Hawaii Cancer Research Center and NOAA’s Inouye Regional Center has led to continuous work in the region in concert with our Honolulu office, including present work on many pieces of the Victoria Ward development.

Now approaching his 20-year anniversary with the company, Michael’s portfolio includes education, courthouse, tenant interior, residential and international projects. He was the electrical engineer for the buildings on Block C of MGM MIRAGE’s CityCenter in Las Vegas, including the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and VEER Towers, as well as for the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and renovation of the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park.

Alan leads our high performance design group, Built Ecology, nationwide. His team in San Francisco led the high performance design on Federal Center South Building 1202, now an AIA COTE Top Ten and Top Ten Plus award winner. Alan and his team also performed Measurement and Verification on the project, which resulted in the team fulfilling their performance contract with the General Services Administration.

Under the leadership of these individuals and the office department heads, the team of talented engineers in our San Francisco office work together to provide excellent client service and uncommon value. Please contact any of the individuals below to learn more about what we deliver.
