WSP and ccrd combine Houston operations

WSP and ccrd have combined their Houston operations and will operate in Houston as WSP + ccrd. The combined office will have nearly 60 employees, specializing in MEP (mechanical/electrical/plumbing) engineering, commissioning, and fire protection/life safety.

WSP, an international engineering design and environmental consultancy, acquired ccrd, a national MEP engineering and commissioning firm based in Houston, in November 2014.

David Sinz, P.E., vice president and managing director of WSP’s Houston office, will continue as managing director of the combined operations. David Duthu, P.E., former managing director of ccrd’s Houston office, has taken on a national role at WSP, co-leading its Science + Technology practice.

“The WSP + ccrd office leadership has over 125 years of combined experience in the Houston area,” Mr. Sinz noted. “This is an important step in the integration of our firms that will enable us to more effectively serve our clients.”

“By combining forces, both WSP and ccrd have doubled in size in Houston,” adds Mr. Duthu. “Our skills and range of professional services has been broadened through the integration of our firms, and we are very about the enhanced client service capability and professional services that are afforded through this co-location.”

WSP + ccrd has contributed greatly to the healthcare and science and technology sectors in Houston, in addition to performing considerable work in the commercial, residential, hospitality, and industrial markets. Among the many projects completed by WSP + ccrd are: BP Westlake; Texas Children’s Hospital Neurological Research Institute; AT&T Jefferson Toll Building; Gables Post Oak Residential; multiple projects at NASA Johnson Space Center; National BioAgro Defense Facility and National Biocontainment and Counter Measure Facility, both for the Department of Homeland Security; The National Laboratory at Galveston for the University of Texas Medical Branch and the National Institutes of Health; Shell America’s Research and Development Center; UT Houston Institute of Molecular Medicine;  JPMorgan Chase Building; and the MD Anderson Cancer Center Alkek Expansion.

“The strategic and cultural fit of ccrd with WSP has been everything both firms hoped it would be and our integration is going exceptionally well” commented David Cooper, P.E, president of WSP’s U.S. Buildings practice and chief commercial officer of the U.S. region. “The co-location of our two offices in Houston is a natural step forward and it will be wonderful to have our staff work and collaborate side by side.”

The combined office will be located at 808 Travis Street, Suite 200. In Texas, the firm also has offices in Dallas and Austin.
