ASCE Florida West Coast Branch Names David Hubbard as Engineer of the Year

David Hubbard, a highway design engineer in the Tampa office of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, has been named Engineer of the Year by the West Coast Branch of the Florida Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

 

David Hubbard, a highway design engineer in the Tampa office of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, has been named Engineer of the Year by the West Coast Branch of the Florida Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Mr. Hubbard was recognized for his contributions and professional service to ASCE and the engineering profession, specifically the development of the Transportation & Development Institute (T&DI) for the local ASCE branch. He is an active participant in community service activities including the Future City Competition and local elementary education STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) programs, and has hosted numerous technical meetings with guest speakers such as Florida state senators and the mayor of Tampa to discuss Florida transportation policy and future transportation technologies. He began his involvement with the West Coast Branch of the Florida Section of ASCE while a student at the University of Florida, from which he received a bachelor of science in civil engineering. He continues his involvement with the West Coast Branch by serving as Transportation & Development Institute Chair and by judging the National Student Steel Bridge Competition at regional and national levels.

At WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, Mr. Hubbard has been involved with the design of highway projects in the Tampa area. He serves as design deputy project manager and design engineer for the Interstate 275 reconstruction in Tampa.

Aside from his work with ASCE, Mr. Hubbard is active in the American Society of Highway Engineers and the Institute of Transportation Engineers. He is a licensed professional engineer in Florida.
