LOS ANGELES, CA — Howard Ho has been named a senior associate in the Los Angeles buildings office of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, a global engineering and professional services organization.

In his new position, Mr. Ho will manage the design of mechanical systems for buildings projects throughout the Los Angeles area and California. Some of the firm’s recent projects in the region include Metropolis LA and Oceanwide Plaza.

Mr. Ho has considerable experience designing building mechanical systems (including central chilled and hot water plants, air cooled DX, and VRV systems) for a wide variety of environments, including transportation, commercial, mixed-use, hospitality, residential, and retail projects. His areas of expertise also include mechanical systems design, BIM coordination and the design and implementation of high performance systems such as displacement ventilation, radiant cooling, and heating and natural ventilation systems. Prior to joining WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, he worked in similar roles at DLR Group and Syska Hennessy.

“Through the successful design of numerous high-performance projects, Howard has demonstrated a degree of technical proficiency that will enable him to provide innovative and cost effective solutions to our clients’ complex building system challenges,’ said Steve Burrows, director of buildings and western region leader at WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff.

Mr. Ho’s hire follows the opening of the firm’s Los Angeles buildings practice earlier this year. He will immediately begin work on design for projects already awarded to the business in California, including Oceanwide Plaza, LA Biomed and the Bechtel Residence.

A licensed Professional Engineer in California, Mr. Ho received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University in Canada.

The firm’s buildings sector in California comprises over 120 specialists in three locations (San Francisco, San Jose and Los Angeles) providing structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering; fire protection; architectural lighting; building technology systems; building enclosures; acoustics; commissioning; and high performance design by Built Ecology.
