Ted Smith to Support ITS and Connected/Automated Vehicle Research & Deployment at WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff

Ted Smith has been named a senior ITS manager in the Herndon, Virginia office of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, a global engineering and professional services organization.

 

HERNDON, VA — Ted Smith has been named a senior ITS manager in the Herndon, Virginia office of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, a global engineering and professional services organization.

In his new position, Mr. Smith will support federal research efforts as well as state and local deployment and operational projects related to intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and connected/automated vehicles.

Mr. Smith has more than 23 years of experience managing U.S. and international transportation engineering and research projects. He is a recognized expert in several areas of ITS, including connected vehicle research, rural safety innovation and incident management programs. Prior to joining WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, he was a program manager at the Battelle Memorial Institute, where he managed a multidisciplinary team working on a wide variety of projects for the U.S. Department of Transportation. 

“Ted’s addition to our ITS leadership team will broaden our expertise in policy, engineering and operations for transportation management and connected/automated vehicle programs,” said Steve Kuciemba, national ITS practice leader for WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff. 

Mr. Smith received a bachelor of science degree in urban planning and a master of science in transportation planning from Iowa State University. He also earned a master of science in public policy from George Mason University.
