Duane McKinney Named Indiana Area Manager for WSP USA

Duane E. McKinney has been named Indiana area manager of transportation and infrastructure for WSP USA, formerly WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, a leading engineering and professional services organization.

 

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Duane E. McKinney has been named Indiana area manager of transportation and infrastructure for WSP USA, formerly WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, a leading engineering and professional services organization.

Based in Indianapolis, Mr. McKinney will lead an office staffed by approximately 50 professionals providing planning, engineering, program management and construction management services for transportation and infrastructure projects.

“Duane has been a leader for our firm in many roles and I am glad to have him lead our Indiana area for all modes of transportation and infrastructure,” said Barbara Arens, business manager of the Central region of WSP USA’s transportation and infrastructure business. 

Mr. McKinney succeeds Shelby A. Swango, who was named operations manager of WSP’s Central region, with responsibility for staffing and project delivery. Ms. Swango will remain in Indianapolis.

Since he joined WSP in 2005, Mr. McKinney has held various leadership roles and has served as a project manager on major transportation and infrastructure design-build projects in Indiana and across the country. He most recently served as a senior engineering manager of transportation and infrastructure services in the Indianapolis office. 

A professional with more than two decades of diverse project management and engineering experience, Mr. McKinney has delivered design-build and design-bid-build projects with accelerated schedules, complex maintenance of traffic, multiple stakeholders and concurrent tasks. His experience includes bridge and roadway design, bridge rehabilitation, complex maintenance of traffic, signal, signing, lighting, cost estimating, construction sequencing and life-cycle rehabilitation strategies. He has also worked on several public-private partnership highway projects, providing operation and management life-cycle rehabilitation strategies for existing facility pavement and structures.

A licensed professional engineer in Indiana and Texas, Mr. McKinney received an M.B.A. from Butler University and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Purdue University. Among his professional affiliations, he is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
