SEATTLE, WA — Shannon Mitchell-Kowski has been hired as a senior associate in the Seattle office of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, a global engineering and professional services organization.
In her new position, Ms. Mitchell-Kowski will lead the lighting department in the buildings practice, which provides interior, façade and landscape lighting, daylighting, energy efficient lighting, lighting controls, and more. Some of the firm’s recent projects include Amazon’s Seattle headquarters, 400 Fairview, and Federal Center South Building 1202.
Ms. Mitchell-Kowski has over 19 years of varied lighting industry experience. Her recent project experience includes lighting design for Waterfront Seattle, a two mile public park, roadway, and cycle track; four new buildings at the Seattle Multimodal Terminal; and design for residence halls and a student activity center at the University of Washington. Prior to joining WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, she was most recently a Senior Lighting Designer with a Seattle lighting design firm.

Ms. Mitchell-Kowski received the 2015 Edwin F. Guth Memorial Award for Interior Lighting Design, the Energy and Environmental Design Award, and the Lighting Control Innovation Award from the Seattle Section and the Northwest Region of the IESNA (Illuminating Engineering Society of North America) for her work on LMN Architects offices in Seattle.
Ms. Mitchell-Kowski studied communications at Bowling Green State University. Her professional affiliations include Associate membership within the International Association of Lighting Designers and membership in the Illuminating Engineering Society.
