Hydropower

Hydropower continues to be a dominant source of renewable energy, currently producing approximately twenty per cent of global electricity. We have extensive experience in hydropower, which is evidenced by our contribution to generating thousands of megawatts of power across numerous sites in Australia, New Zealand, Asia and Africa.

We are recognised for our vast experience in the delivery of hydropower projects, including developing greenfield sites, and engineering and commissioning hydroelectric stations and dams.

From new hydropower schemes to refurbishment of existing schemes, owners often rely on the contractor to supply the equipment and guarantee/test the mechanical and electrical plant, thus making it difficult for the owner to obtain independent verification of the plant's performance. We respond and have a proven track-record in serving as an independent witness and tester. We tailor services to ensure owners' achieve independent verification of their plants.

Our services include:

  • Hydrology and hydraulics
  • Civil and structural design, and stability analysis
  • Civil and structural engineering
  • Geotechnical and geological engineering
  • Flood risk assessment
  • Dam design and dam safety
  • Turbine-generator selection and review
  • Heavy mechanical design
  • Medium and high-voltage electrical design
  • Auxiliary electrical and mechanical services
