WSP Announces Structures for Asia Pacific

WINWARD GROUP joins WSP to form its new specialist Structural, Civil and Façade Consultancy arm in the Asia Pacific Region - WSP Structures.

WINWARD and WSP already have a strong and trusting working relationship, fostered through the successful delivery of major Australian projects; such as The Melbourne Convention Centre, Southern Cross Station, Eastern Plaza at Melbourne Park, the Economics and Commerce Building at Melbourne University

Globally, we’ve also worked on large projects such as Nakheel’s super-tall tower in Dubai. Despite the impact of the GFC, we’re hopeful that the kilometre tall tower project will recommence following the general financial recovery and confidence in the region.

While there are many technical synergies that bring enormous benefits to both organisations, together we also share similar cultures and underlying principles. WINWARD’s values align closely to those of WSP:

  • Integrity
  • High quality personal  service focussed on achieving optimal client outcomes
  • Specialist approach
  • Providing an excellent working environment for staff with unlimited opportunity for personal and career growth

Operating as WSP Structures, Kevin Winward and his team will continue to service current clients with the same high quality, hands-on, personal service that has always been the basis of WINWARD’s success. With current offices in Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, WINWARD will now accelerate its growth as WSP Structures, through access to WSP’s offices and technical expertise throughout the Asia-Pacific region. . A new Sydney office is now operational and we have several significant projects underway there.

There are great parallels in the expertise of both companies in the delivery of challenging projects, particularly of tall, slender towers. Recent Australian projects for WINWARD include Tower Melbourne at 150 Queen Street, Freshwater Place, Five Towers at Upper West Side, 170 Victoria Street, 450 Elizabeth Street, 250 LaTrobe Street and many more.  WSP’s recent tall towers include Towers 1, 2, 3 and 7 of the World Trade Centre in New York,  United Tower in Kuwait City, Strata SEI in London and the tallest building in Europe, The London Shard, to name but a few.

Integrating WINWARD into WSP, a large, high quality, multi-national design consultancy, is an exciting initiative. It will provide both sets of existing clients enhanced levels of service across Australia and globally. WSP Structures will provide a full depth of international experience, expertise and resource base within the structural/civil disciplines. Where a multi-disciplinary approach is necessary, it will be utilised to deliver an optimal project outcome for a client.

Kevin Winward, Executive Chairman for WINWARD and of the new WSP Structures said “WINWARD has always promoted specialism; to combine the best skills available in every discipline into a team of specialists. WSP’s global model for multi-disciplinary service delivery has also utilised an integrated specialist approach. Now together as WSP Structures, our specialist Structural/Civil/Facade team will work in an integrated manner with WSP’s specialist Building Services team, in much the same way as we have before joining forces, but with the added value of a common delivery platform and an holistic project delivery aspiration.”

Andrew Mather, Managing Director for WSP in Asia Pacific said “Both Kevin and I are looking forward to integrating the many synergies that form WSP Structures. Both teams are committed to taking this full multi-disciplinary model to a higher level of service quality and project optimisation for our clients.”
