Getting the most out of ageing rail infrastructure

In Melbourne this week WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff will be joining forces with Sydney Trains to share their experiences of designing and constructing the underbridge over Parramatta Road, Granville in Western Sydney.

Technical Executive for Structural Engineering, Stephen Burkitt, along with Sydney Train’s Principal Engineer for Bridges, Joe Muscat will share the challenges of upgrading a 1920s bridge while working in a live rail environment.

Speaking from the AusRail conference, Mr Burkitt commented:

‘For this project we focused on using innovative construction and design methodologies to minimise disruption and deliver greater productivity from what is ageing rail infrastructure.'
