Sustainable solutions for our roads

Next week on the Gold Coast, WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff Senior Pavements Engineer Tanmay Vaidya will present at the 16th Australian Asphalt Pavement Association (AAPA) International Flexible Pavements Conference.

Mr Vaidya will present with Department of Transport and Main Roads QLD Senior Technical Officer Damian Volker. They will discuss the foamed bitumen stabilisation process and its successful use on the recent Smith Street Motorway upgrade.

WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff Queensland Regional Director, Gerard Ryan, described the need for innovation on today’s roads.

‘As the largest single-funded asset, the whole of life optimisation of pavements is a key challenge for our clients.’

He continues, ‘Our pavement engineering specialists are continuously developing effective and practical ways to optimise carriageway and footway maintenance treatments.’

‘Foamed bitumen stabilisation is cost-effective, sustainable and maximises the re-use of existing materials. Smith Street Motorway is a great example of consultants and clients working together to maximise infrastructure outcomes,’ said Mr Ryan.

The annual conference is an opportunity for industry participants to network with other professionals and learn about the latest road pavement engineering equipment and technology.
