COST-EFFECTIVE WATER MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS FOR MINING PRESENTED AT LEADING SYMPOSIUM

This week in Queenstown, New Zealand, Principal Water Resources Engineer Amir Hedjripour will share insights about effective mine water management at the 2016 joint conference for the NZ Hydrological Society, Australian Hydrology and Water Resources Symposium and IPENZ Rivers Group.

Amir HedjripourMr  Hedjripour's presentation will outline the findings from case studies carried out on a number of coal mines across Queensland and New South Wales.

He proposes a technique for efficient selection of mine water containment facilities and dewatering infrastructure to meet the 'no-spill criteria' set by State environmental legislation.

Mr Hedjripour states, ‘Cost-effective water management solutions are critical for clients in the mining sector.

'I’m pleased to work with a team who stretch the boundaries of innovation. We adopt state-of-the-art modelling tools and techniques to deliver outcomes to clients that truly add value to their businesses.’

Effective handling of potentially contaminated water is a vital factor in the design and management of mine water infrastructure. Economic assessment suggests optimised configuration of these facilities could have a significant impact on the capital and operational expenditure of mining operations.

The joint symposium provides a platform for over 400 delegates, representing all levels of governments, universities, students, researchers, contractors, suppliers and consultants to showcase best-practice and share their knowledge with leaders from Government and industry.
