New geotechnics and tunnel lead for NSW

This week we welcomed Gareth Evans to our Sydney office as a new Principal Engineer who will also act as NSW team manager for our 35-strong, geotechnics and tunnel team.

Mr Evans is a chartered geotechnical engineer with nearly three decades of experience in the development and delivery of civil and tunnel infrastructure and building projects.

WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff’s Section Executive for Geotechnics and Tunnels, Doug Graham commented that Mr Evans will be a great addition to our Australia-New Zealand capability, possessing the right mix of technical ability and leadership skills. 

'Gareth has experience working in both the public and private sectors, both locally in the Sydney region and globally in the United Kingdom, Southern and East Africa and Asia.

'He has held lead design roles on major transport infrastructure projects including Lane Cove Tunnel, Epping Chatswood Rail Tunnel, Hong Kong’s Chep Lap Kok Airport and the Channel Tunnel in the United Kingdom.

'Most recently he has been managing the development of Ausgrid's major infrastructure projects in the Sydney CBD, which has included 6.2km of two segmentally lined TBM tunnels and two major underground substations, seeing the projects through from feasibility to contractor procurement and construction' concluded Mr Graham.

Mr Evans commenced on the 25 July 2016 and will be based in the Sydney office.
