How is Emily Pearson a reflection of our World Class Talent?

At WSP, we are proud of the culture we foster and our people are our greatest strength. Today we talk to Emily Pearson, People Advisor, based in our Sydney office.


Since joining WSP in 2015, Emily has been an integral member of the award-winning People team. She says, “I joined WSP because of its focus on innovation, and its dedication to future thinking. We are a company that knows where it wants to be and that is the very best.”

As part of her role, Emily is heavily involved in the identification and development of WSP staff. She says, “We look for people who reflect our company’s values. We foster a culture that is fast paced, innovative, supportive and collaborative. Our talent identification and development process actively seeks to engrain these values in all staff to further their careers.”

Already, Emily has worked on two award-winning campaigns. In 2016, 2 Steps Ahead won the best recruitment campaign at the Australian Human Resources Institute Awards. Emily says, “The new WSP brand created for talent was a great achievement for our whole team. While it took a lot of tireless work to perfect, the outcome is a great reflection of our company’s values. It was a terrific opportunity – so early on in my career – to collaborate with the whole business, including its leaders, to better identify our world class talent.”

Earlier this year, Emily was also part of the team recognised by the Human Resources Director magazine for innovation. She says, “The Thrive Portal was an amazing concept that grouped performance, learning and development into the one platform. It was great to receive recognition for the tool as it is a credit to the whole team coming up with something that is so innovative. It was also a real privilege to accept the award on behalf of my team on the night in front of a crowd who was genuinely interested in the program.”

A part of the WSP Young Professional Network – Pathways - Emily helped initiate the implementation of the Coffee Club / Up Close and Personal Programs across our ANZ offices. She says, “The programs are about giving our younger professionals, our next generation of emerging leaders, the opportunity to meet and network with the current leaders of the business. The success of the program was again outstanding; it gave opportunities to our younger professionals to learn from the very best.”
