These exciting additions bring the portfolio of such Owner’s Engineer contracts with Frontier to a total of five, all running concurrently. The other three being Siti 1, Siti 2 and Lubilia.

The wins are a testament to the expert capabilities of the ANZ Power team, led by Andy Nobel, Technical Executive Hydropower & Tunnel. The team is also providing lender’s technical advisor services on two other small hydropower projects in Uganda for FMO, Netherlands - Nyamwamba 9.2MW which is under construction and Mpanga 18MW which is now operational. The contract value for the new wins Nyamagasani 1 and Nyamagasani 2 is US$205K each and the combined contract value for the five OE projects is an estimated NZ$1.5M.

WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff’s Regional Manager, Power & Energy Inder Rai commented on the valued partnership with Frontier. Mr Rai said, ‘we have an excellent working relationship with Frontier Investment Management built upon trust, open communication and delivering services beyond their expectation. We anticipate to continue our involvement with their projects in the foreseeable future.’

The seven projects range in size from 5MW to 18MW capacity, totalling 73MW, and are all run-of-river developments harnessing the high head potential of various rivers in The Rwenzori Mountains (western Uganda) and Mount Elgon (eastern Uganda).

Our services for the OE roles are to provide design reviews of the EPC Contractor’s designs, culminating in Scheme Freeze design meetings between all parties and supplemented by routine monitoring visits of staff to the sites during construction. The team comprises various hydropower disciplines residing within Power, Transport, Environment and Water from our Australia and New Zealand divisions.
