Design and Architecture

Our designers work with the latest design tools, including BIM and 3D analysis and modelling work, on all aspects of bridge design, including static and dynamic loadings, cost and constructability. We collaborate with landscape and bridge architects to create aesthetically pleasing solutions that minimize the impact of new structures on their environment. We are recognized internationally for our innovative designs and have won a number of bridge design competitions and awards around the world.

Seismic Analysis
WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff has built up a wealth of experience in seismic analysis from working on numerous bridge assignments in earthquake regions. Our engineering capabilities include dynamic analysis of structures, component design and detailing, analysis of soil-structure interaction effects and using various seismic protection devices in bridge design. We are familiar with a variety of modern seismic design codes for bridges.

Wind Engineering

Aerodynamics and wind engineering are of central importance in the design of flexible structures, and are often governing factors in bridge design and operation. Our services include wind-loading studies, aerodynamic analysis of long-span bridges and wind-tunnel testing and model preparation, using our state-of-the-art in-house laboratories.

Inspection

WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff provides general and special inspections, laboratory tests, bearing capacity calculations and classifications, repair design and supervision services for a wide variety of bridge types, including world-class suspension structures, long-span viaducts and complex railway structures. Our inspectors are experienced and skilled in a range of innovative access techniques. Clients can rely on a safe and professional approach, whatever the structure or situation.

Diagnostic Testing for Complex Structures

Our bridge diagnostic technology, utilizing field instrumentation, load testing and finite-element analysis, can determine actual capacity and help identify potential structural deficiencies. We also evaluate the level of corrosion through the structure with our assessment technology. Non-destructive techniques are used to proactively determine the remaining service life of a bridge.

Rehabilitation

We have specialist knowledge in the assessment of existing bridges and our engineering teams are skilled in both investigating structures and developing innovative solutions for the rehabilitation of bridges. Our services include bridge assessment and remediation, strengthening and reconstruction. We have extensive experience of a wide variety of construction methods, from historic cast-iron structural members and masonry arches to modern steel-girder and concrete superstructures.
