Do you look like an engineer?

The #ILookLikeAnEngineer Twitter campaign is shedding light on the diversity of people and jobs in engineering. Be part of it!

Engineering is rarely a trending topic on social media but the campaign has taken the world by storm and received extensive media coverage across the world. The current campaign was spurred by comments received by San Francisco engineer Isis Wenger about her looks on her employer’s recruitment ads. Shocked by the clichéd comments, she encouraged women engineers to post pictures of themselves and tweet with the hashtag #ILookLikeAnEngineer.

“I was really pleased to see the #ILookLikeAnEngineer hashtag on Twitter which is helping to raise awareness that not all engineers look the same. If we want to attract more young people, especially girls, we need to break down ingrained stereotypes that put people off what is actually a very exciting and rewarding career,” commented Roma Agrawal, Associate Director and Structural Engineer at WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff in the UK.

We encourage you to share your photo on Twitter with the hashtag #ILookLikeanEngineer and a few words about yourself.

The campaign also has a website where you can sign up for updates.
