Loyola University sought to create a heart for its Health Science Campus - one that would consolidate programs to foster and showcase groundbreaking bench-to-bedside research and education.

The new CTRE gives form to this vision in a five-story, 250,000 square feet form - integrating laboratories, offices, a vivarium, a 350-seat auditorium and a series of multi-level atriums and public spaces. New pedestrian bridges will also link the CTRE to the existing Stritch School of Medicine and the Cardinal Bernadine Cancer Center.

WSP USA, formerly Halvorson and Partners, is optimizing designs to limit floor vibrations - a key design consideration for the laboratories, pedestrian bridges, open atriums and auditorium long span framing.
